Stand and Deliver blog

It was very impressive to first have 18 students pass the AP Calculus exam. Even after the first time when they were accused of cheating. When they were accused, they did not care. They knew they passed that test by themselves. They didn't need to cheat. What was really helpful for them was they had a teacher who actually cared for them so they could pass. He would do anything to help them even if it meant staying longer after school in order to study more or even during the summer. He wanted the best for the students. Once they were accused they took the test again just to prove the people wrong. There was contraversy because they were Hispanics. People didn't think minorities should be doing that well on tests. Once they re-took the test they proved everyone wrong by passing it again. All students ended up passing. During the following years more than 80 students passed the AP Calculus test. This just proved that Hispanics and other minorities can do the best they can and can pass any test if they all put in all the work. Overall this was an excellent movie that showed that Latinos can do anything if they set their minds to it.

Do you think that this is still a problem? Do people still have these racist views?

I like the way you put this. I agree.
