I believe that the schools past low test scores influenced the board to think of some kind of suspicion in cheating, although they were being watched in the entirety of the test. Retaking the test seemed to be a good decision because it will prove they are capable of passing it.
Do you think that the Educational Testing Service (ETS) was guilty of racism in their accusations of cheating?
ReplyDeleteDo you think it was a reason of suspicion due to the school having a bad reputation in education, or was it because of the students ethnic background?
ReplyDeleteJonathan, that's an interesting question. Can we separate the "bad reputation" from the students' ethnicity? Are there schools with predominantly white students who have "bad reputations"? Does having a predominantly Latino student population cause more people to view the school as "bad"?
ReplyDeleteI don't know the answers to these questions, but I think they're important to ask.
