Into the Wild

Chris McCandless was an adventurous young man who wanted to discover the real meaning of life. To some people, he was selfish and stubborn for walking out on his family. For others. McCandless was courageous and admirable for abandoning all he has ever known to live off of nature. From my perspective, McCandless was both courageous and stubborn because of the actions he committed when somebody offered help. This being because he declined help when he was in dire need. This unfortunately lead to his death, but he died doing what he wanted to do, which was live life without restrictions.

Into the Wild is meant to catch your interest in the beginning of the book so the author starts the end in the beginning. Not only does it make you question why Alex did it all, but how how he did it all like what did he do to make it Alaska. How does one person survive on just what he knows because Alex wasn't a nature specialist it just seemed like he was inspired to go to Alaska. Also seeing the people that help him show how

random people can be so caring to a stranger.

Into the Wild is a very different book because of the way the story is told and how it's not in chronological order. It's very confusing at first because in the first chapter he's alive and the second he is dead. You kind of wonder what's next and then you realize that it's going in a non chronological order. I realize to fully understand the book you'll probably either have to read it twice or take notes after every chapter to really get the book and its main character Chris McCandless. This book reminds me of movies like Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction, and The Usual Suspects.

Chris McCandless does remind me of those type of people who was disillusioned with society. In some certain ways, he felt like he didnt need money, a home to live in, or relationships to make him happy.

For an example, Krakauer does say that McCandless was an adventurer, but he had hidden some viewpoints on how Chris didnt know his environment or dangers corresponding in Alaska.

But for McCandless, he wanted to fulfill his dream to live in the wild, but for my opinion its not a great way of how Chris lived because he had different ways to live. But i feel Maybe if his parents would have gave him more attention to what he wanted he wouldn’t have left, and could have lived a happy life along society.

I think that McCandless was a young man that knew what he wanted in his short lived life. He left things ready for his family such as leaving letters to be mailed on a certain day. He knew most likely that he wouldn't be home for a certain amount of time and that his family would probably be against him leaving to travel. He also takes a break from traveling and decides to stay with a man he hitchhiked at one point. I felt that Chris knew that he had somewhere to stay if it wasn't home. I'm also sure that Chris knew that if he went back home, he wouldn't have continued his journey.

The book Into The Wild has a great start I and one thing that caught my attention was how he stated that McCandless had died in chapter 2 of the book. McCandless was brave to go live in the wild like he did cause he went alone. He was smart enough to survive for a long time before he met his demise. He was polite, friendly, well-grounded the people he met seem to have taken a liking to him, they helped him.

Chris McCandless is a young man who does not really know who he wants to be in life. I believe he goes out into the wild to find himself and to see exactly what he wants. What I found strange about McCandless was when something went wrong he got his money and burned it, and said that money is the devil. McCandless meets a lot of people that have helped him out in many different ways and even gave him advice whenever they thought he needed it. In chapter five, a seventeen year old named Tracy fell in love with Chris while he was in Niland. When Chris went to the swap meet he would meet about six to seven dozen of people because he was such a social person.

McCandless was a young man who knew what he wanted to do with his life. He was smart because he manage to survive for a very long time, he was sure of what he was doing. McCandless was brave, polite and friendly. Along his way he met nice people that helped him and gave him advice.

Chris McCandless story ends in a saddening way. You would expect the main character of a book written about a person would be a happy ending but it turns out it wasn't a happy ending for McCandless. It all starts out with a man who met McCAndless stating that he drove the boy out passed Fairbanks to get to his destination.The man's name was Jim Gallien and when he heard McCandless talk about his crazy adventure he is trying to go on he tried to convince him not to because he wasn't really prepared. Jim tried to convince him but he would not listen. Only if Jim knew that would be the last time he would see McCandless. But before I speak more on about his death I would also like to state that he was a courageous and adventurous man. Wanting to leave home and going on his journey is not what a lot of people expect out of a College Grad. The exception for McCandless is extraordinary. He made his mind up on this journey and he did it. Without a care in the world he would end up going to a few places across America before he ended up in Alaska. On this road trip he ended up meeting a lot of people and he ended up connecting with every person he met. He changed the life of a so called Ron to the point that Ron wanted to adopt him. Ron loved Chris as much as a son. When he found out Chris had passed the man went into tears and began drinking again. He developed a really strong bond with Chris. It saddened me to see that in the story on how much one person can change your life. McCandless also met a man named Westerberg. He took a job with him and he also developed a strong bond with this man. Chris was his hardest worker and when he wanted to leave Westerberg offered him a permanent spot. Chris denied of course because he worked only enough to get money so he will be able to travel again. He was determined on getting to the Alaskan frontier.  To get off track there is also a chapter about a man called McCunn. This was a man who shared the same sense of adventure as Chris. As you can get where I'm getting at this man also died in his wilderness journey. All in all Chris was a brave man. He set out what he wanted to do. He pursued it. It just wasn't a happy ending.

In the first chapters Jim Gallien notices a young man hitchhiking four miles outside of Fairbanks, & he picks him up. The hitchhiker introduces himself as ¨Alex¨. He tells Jim that he is heading to Denali, where he plans to hike into the wilderness & live off of the land for a few months. Jim is concerned, because he notices that Alex’s pack seems awfully light all he had was" a ten pound bag of rice, a rifle"(.22 caliber) & a tattered state map. Chris McCandless or ¨Alexander Suppertramp¨ as he calls himself left his home for adventures. Chris McCandless was a young man who wanted to experience adventure & gave up everything he had to live off the land and saly died before returning to civilization. In the following chapters I've learned that McCandless has met many people who question him about his life choices & journey dream. We also read of all the trouble he went through & how he died.

Christopher McCandless was a young man who waned to experience an adventure by going into to Alaska where he would face danger and also learn from it but unfortunately he wasn't able to make out a live from mother nature.

Chris McCandless to me is a very dumb person. I say it because he wasn't thinking about everyone else but himself which is fine but also ignorant because he wanted to chase something that had no meaning and a big waste of time. Unfortunately for him it cost him his life.

The story that I have read so far has given me the impression that McCandles has had a rough patch within his past. He seeks a new beginning for himself as he travels from town to town, in hopes that he will find a better understanding of who he truly is.

Chris McCandless was a hiker who ventured in the Alaskan wilderness with little food and equipment, hoping to live simply for a time in solitude. We can infer that McCandless is tired and stressed of living the life everyone believes is the "normal life" which makes him take the decision of leaving everything behind and adventure out in nature with no rules whatsoever.

Chris McCandles was an American hiker who ventured out into the Alaskan wilderness with little food and equipment. He had died in a rusting bus that was used for trappers and etc along the Stampede Trail. It turns out that Chris was dead for 19 days along side they also found a diary that he had been writing on.

 In my opinion Chris McCandless seemed as a bright educated and courageous person just by hearing the quick intro about him in the eight-teen minute video Mr. Weller showed us. After reading the introduction my view point of Chris started to change slightly. I began to see Chris as a stubborn person when he denied the help of Jim Gallien. Also when he decided to get rid of his watch and map because he didn´t want to know what time or day it was or where he was. However as I continued to read I began to understand why he acted this such way in the beginning. Now my view of point of Chris so far is a courageous, educated, yet sometimes stubborn person who wants to get away from everything and be a free person.

My opinion on Chris McCandless so far would would be that he is a brave, adventurous man. It takes a lot of courage to do what he had done. He burned his money and got rid of all of the things he thought might had helped him. I also do think that he was a little crazy for making that decision.

In my opinion , Chris McCandless is a very determined and courageous person for accepting a challenge that not an everyday person can try to accomplish every day. I do not believe that McCandless is a reckless idiot because not just any person decides to go on a trip as challenging as the one McCandless had done.

I think Chris McCandless is a very interesting man, he is traveling by himself with little to no resources. I believe that McCandless is a brave individual for doing this on his own. I think he did this because he wanted to be free and live his life to the fullest and have no worries about things. He did things such as burn his money, and ditched his car.

Well so far I think that Chris is very curious about the world and is walking the earth to find himself just like jewels did in Pulp Fiction.But otherwise he was very adventures but in reality he was careless in his decisions he choose to do. His goal was to find himself but through it all in the end he found the happiness he persude in the begging.
