into the wild

In the book "into the wild", Chris McCandles aka Alex was a very selfless person.For example in page 17 it states "He offered us both beer." He also stated that he has not ate for a while and was running out of money but he still had offered them a beer without hesitation.Due to his action he reciceved a nice cooked dinner and a place to sleep.Which he was very thankful for and kept him alive.
