Into the Wild

Jim Gallien notices a young man hitchhiking four miles outside of Fairbanks, and he picks him up. The hitchhiker introduces himself as ¨Alex¨. He tells Jim that he is heading to Denali, where he plans to hike into the wilderness and live off of the land for a few months. Jim is concerned, because he notices that Alex’s pack seems awfully light all he had was a ten pound bag of rice, a rifle(.22 caliber) and a tattered state map. Chris McCandless or ¨Alexander Suppertramp¨ as he calls himself left his home for adventures. However he starts to face difficulties during this adventure and dies. Thompson, Samel and Swanson found Chris ¨he had been dead for 2 and a half  weeks" the body was so decomposed and only weighed 67 pounds. In the first couple of chapters we read about the people who meet this young man. He was determined to live a life full of adventures leaving his friends and family behind, Chris wrote of his father & mother ¨ I´m going to divorce them as my parents once and  for all and never speak to either of those idiots again as long as I live¨.
