The movie Stand and Deliver is about a teacher, Mr. Escalante who tries and better his students. The students take a summer class in advanced math (AP Calculus), Mr. Escalante helps his students pass the AP Calculus test. He is then appalled by the school board because they accused the students of cheating on the test. Mr. Escalante defends his students and saying that because they are hispanic and live in a poor neighborhood they can not do well in such a high math. He immensely suggests they retake the test, when they retake the test the students passed the test again, proving the school board wrong that they in fact did not cheat the first time taking the test. This movie is very inspiring to me because it shows that many students who live in poor neighborhoods are not taken seriously when wanting to take a high intellectual class. It shows that just because children and young adults live in poor neighborhoods, they should be given a chance to strive and get good jobs.
